With the objective of furthering the great spiritual and mystic wealth of humanity and of promoting an authentic interreligious dialogue centred on the foundational experience of all religious traditions, we present the II International "Teresa of Jesus and InterreligiousDialogue" awards.
THEMATIC SCOPE OF THIS INVITATION
The first Awards focused on Teresa of Jesus in dialogue with other religious traditions, and was held within the context of the 5th Centenary of her birth and the "Teresa
of Jesus, heritage of humanity" World Congress.
This second call also has a specific theme, which is limited to one of the objectives of the 1st. World Encounter Teresian Mysticism and Interreligious Dialogue:Theravāda
Buddhism and Teresian Mysticism, to be held in Avila from July 27-30, 2017, within the theme: Meditation and Contemplation, pathways to peace.
In agreement with the celebration of this Encounter, the works submitted to the contest must be defined within this celebration’s theme: "BUDDHISM AND MYSTICISM OF THE TERESIAN CARMEL”. They can cover any topic related to Buddhism, but always in dialogue with subjects, aspects or representative figures of the Teresian-Sanjuanist and/or Carmelite school.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE WORKS
The works must be presented in the form of an article, easay, or research - based study. The works must have a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 40 pages. (Sheet size A4, 1.5 line spacing, font Times New Roman 12). The work presented must be original, that is, it must never have been published in either traditional or digital media.
SUBMISSION OF THE WORKS
The deadline for the submission of the works is April 1st, 2017. Further contributions will not be accepted after that date. Work may be presented in Spanish, English, French, Italian, Portuguese or German.
The works must be sent in a digital format (Word and PDF), together with a short curriculum vitae of the author, which must contain the following information:
Name and surname
Date and place of birth
Postal address and e-mail address
A brief summary of the submitted work (not more than 10 lines)
To ensure the impartiality of the Jury, papers will be presented under the pseudonym. Authorship and other personal data will be recorded by the Secretariat and will only be known once the Jury has conferred the award.
The Jury will be composed of the following members:
-The CITeS Foundation President
-The award promoter, expert in Teresian spirituality and Eastern religions
-Experts in Buddhism
-Experts in Teresa of Jesus and John of the Cross
TERMS OF THE AWARD
The Jury will select a maximum of 5 or 6 finalists from among all the submitted works, who will be promptly notified.
The finalists will give a presentation of their works at the celebration of the 1st.
World Encounter Teresian Mysticism and Interreligious Dialogue:
Theravāda Buddhism and Teresian Mysticism, to be held in Ávila, from July 27-30, 2017,
•The first-prize winner will receive an award of € 6,000
•In addition, all 5 other finalists will receive an award of € 1,000 each.
The works will be published in the Encounter’s proceedings.
If the Jury considers that other works submitted are also worth considering because of their high quality and originality, the authors will be notified of the decision to publish their works in the Encounter’s proceedings.
If the works are not of a sufficient standard, the Jury may also decide to not grant any prizes, or,they may decide to divide the first prize between a maximum of two finalists whose works are considered of equal value because of their excellent standard.
